May 28th

We still have a couple students that need to return their public library card forms.   These must be returned by Tuesday as I need to get them to the library for processing.  Thank you!

Please ensure that your child dresses for the weather. They should have extra sweaters or sweatshirts, socks and rain boots if needed.  Even though I have heard the weather is suppose to get warmer next week the school has no heat (due to the broken boiler) and I always have the door open for ventilation.

Our scientists this week were great.  We learned about salt water, what conducts electricity, what happens when diet coke mixes with mentos, how to make rainbow bubbles and how a hover craft works!  If your child is suddenly asking to try some experimenting this is why!  They are asking great 'What if' questions.

Thanks to everyone who has paid for the memory book.

Look at Div. 11's Friday Art work!

Enjoy your weekend!

May 21/21

Have a wonderful May long weekend, it looks like the weather actually might hold!  Enjoy!

Please return library card information asap as we need to get these back to the library before our zoom field trip.  We only have a few students left to pay for their memory book, please go to the parent portal to pay the $10.00.  Thanks!!

Our 'Scientists' have been a huge highlight of our week.  We learned about chemical reactions from both Ryan and Taturm (Ryan made a balloon fill up and Tatum made an egg turn bouncy!).  Evan made a very cool rainbow teaching us about the refraction of white light and Chase did a floating man experiment.  Your child may be asking to try some of these experiments at home as they have had many 'What If' questions!  We are all looking forward to seeing all the other students experiments.

May 12th

Div. 11 has been a very small class so far this week,  as you are aware Fairview unfortunately has cases of covid and exposures. You should have recieved a letter from Fraser Health that our class should be self-monitoring regularly.  This means checking temperature and doing the daily health check-list on our website.  It is crucial that we are all deligent in taking all safety precautions that we can.  Hopefully things will settle down very soon.
If your child is at home and you'd like some activities and school work please check out the Fairview Library link which I have added to our Useful Links.  Also there you will see Raz Kids, Epic and K-5 Math worksheets.  Of course you should continue to read and write daily.

Next week we will be starting our Scientist of the Day.  Please see in the email the attachments of instructions, date each child presents and also the papers for the experiment that your child should complete.  Obviously we will be flexible with dates with our recent situation.

We also have a special Library  'Zoom fieldtrip'.  Each child has a paper that was sent home (or will be sent home) to enable every child to get a library card so they are ready and hopefully join the Fraser Valley Summer Reading Program.  Please return this form ASAP.

Club RED has continued and the students are really enjoying reading outside as well as our Mystery Readers.  Last week our special reader was Natalie's mom, a lunch hour supervisor.  We are guessing who it will be tomorrow!  Hopefully everyone is reading each day and enjoying new adventures or learning new facts!  Don't forgot about the Fariview Book Mark contest, these could be completed at home I have the blank bookmarks here that they can pick up.

Memory Book $10, please pay on the parent portal as soon as possible.

Don't forget to check out the link for our courage collection projects...

This is the thank you we made to Brook at Me & Eds for donating the pizza boxes for our courage projects.  The creators were... Avin, Natalie, Neena, Niki, Neena, and Tatum!
They did an awesome job.

May 6th

 Happy May!!

If you didn't see the notice, unfortunately Fairview has Covid cases and there are several students and teachers that are isolating.  Please as usual be diligent with hand washing, keeping your kids home if they are not feeling well,  getting them tested if they have symptoms and thanks again for reminding and encouraging your child to bring and wear a mask at school. Please also remind your child that they are not to be bringing toys or items from home (like stuffies, etc) With Covid it is important that these things stay at home.

We have now finished our spelling program for the year, your child has brought home their duotang today.  I am proud of how the students worked through these lessons and have started to use some of these phonetic rules in their writing.

We will soon be starting our 'Scientist of the Day'.  On Monday your child will be bringing home a letter  (check the secret pouch in their planner) to explain this and it will also highlight the day your child will present their science experiment.

Your child brought home their body organ and brain project.  Div. 11 did an awesome job of learning all the differnt organs and their functions.  Be sure to ask them everything they learned and I'm sure you will be impressed (the songs in their Poetry books will help them remember if they have forgotten).

CLUB R.E.D. (Read Every Day). Every year at Fairview we celebrate reading and literacy! This year we have some special activities, we are reading outside on Wednesdays (weather permitting), Mystery readers on Fridays, we are making a chain of connections that we make to literature and they are going up around the library, and there is also a Fairview Bookmark contest that is optional - but all entires should include Fairview,  2020-2021, and a picture/design with their name on the back.

Hopefuly you also saw the excellent courage projects that they brought home on Thursday.  Mrs. Neufeld is making a video with all their creations.  Please check out this link to see our collection...

Memory Book $10!  Please pay on the parent portal as soon as possible. Thanks to those who have already paid.

Pro D - on Wednesday, May 12th so no school for students.

Have a wonderful Mother's Day Weekend!!
